As defined by the Council of Logistics Management in the U.S.A., logistics is that part of the supply chain process that plans, implements & controls the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services & related information from the point-of-origin to the point-of-consumption in order to meet customers' requirements (http://www.clm1.org). Research in logistics aims at complementing the research in the supply chain management. The topics of interest are primarily location facilities, managing warehouses, transportation management, and fleet management. Optimization models have been developed for the planning, organizing and controlling of logistics systems & provide exact or approximation solutions to the problems that may arise in logistics' systems. Attention has been paid in vehicle routing problems, location problems, and the interaction of elements in the whole logistics network.
